- Jigs and Reels - The mainstays of Irish dance, jigs and reels are quick
tunes in 3 and 4 that lend themselves to the upbeat social atmosphere
of ceilidh (pronounced KAY-lee) and Contra dances.

- Hornpipes - Bouncy yet formal, hornpipes are popular with competitive step
dancers who tap out intricate percussive patterns in time to the music.

nos, the plaintive sound of a traditional, solo air played on flute or
fiddle is not soon forgotten.
